Over the last year, ASICS has continued to prove itself as the ultimate in running sneakers, delivering dad-approved retro silhouettes like the GEL-KAYANO 5 to performance-optimized styles such as the GEL-QUANTUM 360. Then in April, ASICS took the best of both worlds and unveiled the GEL-KAYANO 5 360 – the first hybrid model to hit the market from the Japenese brand. As the name suggests, the sneaker merges the GEL-KAYANO 5’s iconic upper with the game-changing sole of the GEL-QUANTUM 360, honoring both the brand's rich archive and its long-standing tradition of innovation.
Reaching back into its archive, ASICS rereleased the GEL-KAYANO 5 at the end of last year to pay tribute to the KAYANO line as it reached its 25th iteration. The GEL-QUANTUM 360, on the other hand, is a more recent addition to the footwear brand’s innovative portfolio and incorporates its advanced 360 cushioning sole unit.
Blending old and new, the heart of the sneaker remains its running technology and continuous balancing of fashion and function. With its heavily overlayed mesh and leather upper, the GEL-KAYANO 5 360 keeps a hint of ‘90s vibes but brings a sleeker edge to its design by switching out the KAYANO 5’s iconic Duomax sole for the advanced cushioning technology of the GEL-QUANTUM 360.
The GEL-KAYANO 360 5 drops today in a bold cherry-tinted colorway for $150/€170. Take a closer look in the pictures below and head to asics.com to cop them.
