Here's the First Trailer for the Violent, R-Rated 'Batman: The Killing Joke'
As anticipation levels rise to see Jared Leto & co appear in the upcoming anti-hero movie Suicide Squad, it's easy to forget that there's another rival in town. DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation are set to release Batman: The Killing Joke, an animated adaptation of the controversial graphic novel of the same name. If this newly released first official trailer is anything to go by, then 2016 is going to be a huge year for the DC Comics world.
Following on from the first teaser, the trailer opens up with Batman visiting the Joker in jail. We're then treated to a number of clips teasing explosive action scenes between the two legendary rivals before they "face their darkest hour."
The R-rated film will stick to the hugely popular graphic novel's dark and violent undertones, and tell the tale of The Joker’s origin story — from his early days as a struggling comic, to his tragic encounter with Batman that changes everything. Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy will reprise their roles as Batman and the Joker.
Check out the trailer above, and be sure to find out who has been confirmed to star and direct a solo Batman movie.
