Whiskey Essentials for Novices and Connoisseurs Alike
There are those for whom whiskey is so much more than a drink. For some, it's a hobby, which might include traveling around the world to distilleries, collecting bottles, and thus becoming a walking encyclopedia for bourbon, scotch, and single-malts. Then, there are those who take it very, very seriously, and see whiskey as an investment: individuals who are willing to part with big dollar for a sought-after bottle.
Just last month, a rare bottle of Scotch whiskey went for a world record $1.9m at auction in London. Distilled in 1926, the 700ml bottle of Macallan Fine and Rare 60-Year-Old 1926 comes from cask number 263, the contents of which were bottled in 1986 after maturing for six decades in European Oak at Macallan's distillery near the River Spey in Scotland. Cask 263 has become a multimillion-dollar batch for the Scottish distillery, producing six record-setting bottles.
Fortunately, you don’t have to be a millionaire to enjoy whiskey. Whether you drink it neat or on the rocks, mixed as an Irish coffee or an Old Fashioned (or consider that sacrilege), these essentials will appeal to you. Including glassware, a drinks cart, and bottles, of course, we've got you covered.
