'Ziwe' Is Gone, But These Iconic Moments Will Never Be Forgotten
Disaster has struck the premium entertainment-sphere! On Wednesday, news broke that Showtime canceled Ziwe, the satirical talk show hosted by none other than comedian Ziwe Fumudoh.
The pin-sharp series first debuted in 2021 and ran for two seasons. In it, Ziwe (she prefers to be referred to mononymously) prods guests — who include Chet Hanks, Charlamagne Tha God, and Drew Barrymore — into uttering the kind of ridiculous things you might expect from a Sacha Baron Cohen skit. In some respects, Ziwe is an extension of Baited, the comedian's web series in which the likes of Caroline Calloway and Alison Roman stumble through hilariously awkward conversations on race and racism.
In others, it a builds an entirely new world for Ziwe to exist in, one awash in pink and peppered with campy musical numbers including "Stop Being Poor," a catchy meditation on capitalism, and "Baby Let's Move On," riffing on the insidious suggestion that we all just forget about America's racist history and get along.
As we collectively mourn the loss of Ziwe, we're looking back at our favorite moments from the show. While you're here, check out our FRONTPAGE interview with the comedian.
