Former Nike designer Jesse Leyva rocked the Birkenstock boat last year with a couple wild shoes that were both obscenely clever and obscenely beautiful. Next up? Some comparatively normal Birkenstock sandals that're nevertheless quite nifty.

Leyva has remixed the Birkenstock Boston clog and Zurich slide sandal in tonal white and beige, gently transforming them with one simple trick.

See, though these may look like classic suede sandals, Leyva's new Birkenstocks are actually a smart textural mix.

They balance soft suede and quietly rugged canvas, creating a mix that's only noticeable when you get up close to 'em, making Leyva's latest Birkenstock's a quietly sumptuous shoe.

Their only flaw, really, is that they look rather ordinary. Still, if quiet elevation is your bag, Leyva has your number.

Previously, he updated the Birkenstock Boston with soft "quilted" leather and the Arizona with patchwork denim, a far cry from these relatively normal sandals.

Still, with looks this good, hard to complain.

Leyva's latest Birkenstock collaboration is part two of four and it's been available online for a short while already, even discounted on sites like END.

Perhaps that's just because there are do darn many wonderful Birkenstocks to choose from, including several of Birk's own innovative design, that Leyva's more muted makeups don't shine quite as bright.
