Soon, You Can Wear Diesel's FW22 Collection in the Metaverse
Diesel is expanding its digital footprint by launching the D:VERSE, an NFT collection that translates key pieces from the brand's Fall/Winter 2022 runway show for the metaverse.
Specifically, digital versions of a faux fur jacket, puffer jacket, sneaker, and unspecified accessory from the collection will be available to bid on via Rarible and a dedicated website starting March 12.
The online auction will come with an IRL twist. Post-sale, Diesel's NFT owners will vote on a special-edition colorway for the brand's FW22 sneakers.
The IRL perks don't stop there. D:VERSE NFT holders will gain access to a private Discord channel, as well as the D:VERSE-KEY, a token that will open up discounted NFT pre-sales, raffles, metaverse wearables, and "free AirDrops."
Interestingly, the D:VERSE will accept both cryptocurrency and "old money," which presumably includes USD.
Diesel's decision to extend a hand to non-cryptoheads is reminiscent of LimeWire's relaunch as an NFT platform for the masses. To reduce barriers to entry, the revamped software will allow purchases via credit card, bank transfer, and fiat gateways.
The D:VERSE isn't Diesel's first digital rodeo. Back in December, the label launched its very first sneaker, the Prototype, as an NFT in partnership with The Fabricant.
And before that, Diesel sent out NFT invitations for its Spring/Summer 2022 show, rendered in collaboration with developer Fanaply.
OTB, Diesel's parent company, is investing in virtual fashion, too. Last year, the Italian group launched Brave Virtual Xperience (BVX), a business unit to help its portfolio of brands develop products for the metaverse.
