No, Diptyque's Berlin Candle Doesn't Smell Like Berghain's Dancefloor
Have you ever walked from Berlin's City Palace to Brandenburg Gate? If you have then you might be familiar with the smell of linden trees that cover the path between the two but, if not, you can maybe skip the flight over to the German capital as Diptyque has the next best thing.
The Parisian perfume Maison has taken the journey between two of Berlin's most famous historic landmarks at the start of summer, bottled up the smell of the blossoming linden trees, and then infused it into one of its signature candles.
Not quite the smell that regulars of Tresor or Berghain might associate with the city that has been dubbed the "techno capital," the end result is a floral scent with light honey accents.
Something that we have previously referred to as the "clout candle," luxury scented waxes from the likes of 19-69 or Byredo are almost a prerequisite in homes with top-tier interior design, and Diptyque has built itself a reputation as one of the top brands to burn in your home.
The label's oval-shaped label presented on a plain glass candle is the sign of a product crafted from the finest materials — but with the Berlin candle, things are a little different.
Arriving as part of the brand's city series, an exclusive range of candles inspired by its favorite cities around the world, the usually minimal look has been ditched in favor of green-colored glass and yellow labeling. On the glass, there is also a pattern inspired by Piet Mondrian's compositions, an artist with strong connections to Berlin's famous Bauhaus movement.
The limited-edition city candles are normally only available from Diptyque stores in the city they are inspired by but, since the German capital is Highsnobiety's hometown, the Berlin candle is available now from the Highsnobiety Shop with worldwide shipping.
This is as part of the Highsnobiety Gift Shop, a selection of gifts that have been curated or created by us for the holiday season — and which includes more candles from Diptyque.
