Editor’s Notes: Brendan Fowler's brand Election Reform is dropping one-off tees, hoodies, and long sleeves throughout the midterm season. Made using vintage stock, each item is uniquely bleached, printed and embroidered. The brand will also release collabs with a host of yet-to-be-named brands.
Started in 2015, Election Reform is a non-partisan project, dedicated to educating Americans about their political system and pushing for — as the name suggests — election reform. Each item comes with a reader on the electoral system, with essays on topics like felon disenfranchisement, ballot fraud and the Electoral College.
Additionally, with Election Day on Tuesday, November 6 -- the brand is giving away a free T-shirt made in conjunction with Denim Tears, Online Ceramics and Public Fiction (shown below) -- to people who are voting. In the accompanying Instagram post, the label explains, "The electoral system in this country is not perfect and neither is our system of distributing these shirts perfect either, but we are trying, so if you are not eligible to vote (legally) but would if you could, then this shirt is for you, too." The tees, will also be available at exclusive locations like ICA LA, UC Irvine, VAC Austin and others noted in the post.
Furthermore, the brand says that if "you are not able to make it to any of these sites but want the shirt, please send proof of voting (a sticker pic, poll pic, something) and your address to electionreformsite@gmail.com, the shirt will be free, you just have to pay shipping ;.)"
