Here's How Footshop Is Honoring the Impact of the Iconic Nike Air Max BW OG
Every sneakerhead has a ‘here’s where it all started’ sneaker. It’s likely that, for many of us, that specific sneaker is the Nike Air Max BW. The iconic silhouette is perhaps best known in its Persian Violet colorway which has earned itself an OG release for its 30th birthday. In honor of this legendary silhouette, Footshop is celebrating with a raffle and some exciting events.
The Nike Air Max BW not only influenced many of our sneaker tastes but also had a significant impact on underground music scenes. From Rotterdam’s gabber raves to the UK grime scene, the Nike Air Max BW became a piece of essential kit, helping power these scenes. If you need evidence, just take a look at Dizzee Rascal’s Boy in Da Corner cover where the rapper is sporting… You guessed it: a pair of Nike Air Max BW.
To represent these scenes, Footshop constructed two white cube rooms. In one room, an exclusive gabber track by Prague techno duo Fractions was playing and the soundtrack of the other was taken care of by grime producer Huclberry. Two local contemporary artists who come from a graffiti background entered the rooms and set to work covering the blank walls, channeling the energy of each underground scene, powered by the versatility of the Air Max BW OG.
Once finished, Footshop cut the wallpaper of each room into four distinctive art pieces which will be auctioned off, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to a local charity helping disadvantaged young people. If you’re in Prague, be sure to visit the Footshop Vnitroblock store to view the artworks before they’re auctioned.
Underpinning all of this, Footshop is running a raffle for the Nike Air Max BW OG Persian Violet which you can enter below.
