Gucci's Archival Fanzine Might Actually Get You in the Mood for Love
Love in the time of corona isn't easy, but romance isn't totally dead. Gucci's Alessandro Michele has tapped legendary rock-photographer Brad Elterman for the Gucci Love, Love & Love zine, just in time for Valentine's Day.
"Celebrating soulmates and love," the portfolio shot in Los Angeles features GG bags and jewelry embellished with red hearts, the Gucci Jackie 1961 hobos, and belts with the Double G hardware—seen on the runway for Alessandro Michele’s first show for Gucci six years ago.
Gucci Love, Love & Love is steeped in young love and '70s nostalgia. "Love is your best friend!" claims Elterman, who's shot everyone from David Bowie to Bob Dylan, The Sex Pistols, Devo, Talking Heads, The Runaways, Joan Jett and more.
The lo-fi fanzine also features heartwarming ruminations on love from Gucci's diverse roster of models. "Once for Valentine’s Day I got a jar of noted they were all dated, one for each day of the year and they all said something very sweet” recalls musician Parker Emeigh.
Elsewhere, Sesen Debasai offers some practical advice for navigating courtship; "A simple check-in really shows that you take up space in their heart and they are just eager to call you up."
The publication contains also archival easter eggs from past issues of Fanzine, including '70s icons Cherie and Marie Currie and the iconic "Bebe" Buell.
A limited-edition print version will be available at Gucci Garden bookstore in Florence and at Gucci Wooster in NYC from February 11, in time for Saint Valentine’s Day, or online here.
