HBO has just released its official teaser for Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered: The Lost Children, a five-part documentary that centers on the chilling murders of almost 30 black children and two adults from 1979 to 1981.

Former club promoter Wayne Williams, now 61, was convicted for two of the adult murders. And while many believe he was also responsible for the other killings, the cases were never pursued due to lack of evidence. To this day, Williams maintains he was framed.

The latest DNA advancements and a development in an Alabama cold case encouraged Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms to reopen the case and retest evidence, bringing hope not only to the families of the missing and murdered children, but also to the city.

The network highlights the story through in-depth interviews with the families, as well as archival footage. Directed and produced by Emmy-winning team Show of Force (Marina Abramović: The Artist is Present, Carrier) and Oscar nominee Sam Pollard, the documentary premieres April 5.
