Where Did Jack Harlow Go?
What ever happened to Jack Harlow? Last year, his name was pretty much everywhere, courtesy of chart-topping hits, brand partnerships, and the internet's unashamed thirst for the Kentucky-bred musician. But as of late, it's been pretty quiet in the Harlow-verse.
Let's take a look back at 2022, shall we? Jack Harlow, real name Jackman Thomas Harlow, was only going up following his 2020 hit "What's Poppin'."
Last May, he released his second studio album, Come Home The Kids Miss You, which featured singles like "Nail Tech" and "First Class," the chart-dominating remix to Fergie's bop "Glamorous" (he even performed the song with the pop icon at the 2022 MTV VMAs).
Speaking of the VMAs, he and Lil Nas X pretty much swept at the award ceremony, with "Industry Baby" nabbing Moon-Mans for Best Collaboration, Art Direction, and Visual Effects. "First Class" also won Song of the Summer.
In addition to a solo Saturday Night Live appearance, he also made headlines for his bromances with Drake, comedian Druskii, and Lil Nas X. Remember when Harlow wore a Lil Nas X rap tee to the 2022 BET Awards? We loved seeing it.
The musician also secured a limited edition combo meal with Kentucky Fried Chicken and joined the New Balance roster as an official ambassador.
As you can see, 2022 was a big one for Harlow. But as the year came to a close, it seemed like we heard less and less of and from Harlow.
He popped up in February of this year to tease a Doritos Super Bowl LVI commercial, in which he starred alongside Missy Elliot.
He also attended the 2023 Grammys, as he was nominated for Best Rap song with Drake for "Churchill Downs." Outfitted in a tan suit with black leather gloves, Harlow said he felt like a "snack" in his Grammys 'fit.
The musician has been getting into his acting bag lately, with Harlow set to star in the upcoming remake of White Men Can't Jump, which lands on May 19.
Just a couple of days ago, he was spotted on the set of Matt Damon's forthcoming film The Instigators. While on set in Massachusetts, Harlow wore a Red Sox hat and jacket paired with cargo pants and New Balance 550s (of course).
Harlow hasn't been officially named as part of the cast (yet), which includes Casey Affleck, Hong Chau, Ron Perlman, Alfred Molina, and Ving Rhames. Perhaps, the musician will have a brief cameo in the movie? Or he's just kicking it on set. Who knows?
While still in Massachusetts, he hit up a Boston Celtics game with "castmate" Casey Affleck on March 31. The musician showed up courtside in a clean, velvet green Acne Studios' ensemble coordinated again with New Balance's 550 sneakers. Evidently, even Harlow can't resist the 550 effect.
Music-wise, Harlow most recently appeared on DJ Drama's new album I'm Really Like That, collaborating with the record executive for the track "Mockingbird Valley" (Harlow's under DJ Drama's label Generation Now alongside Lil Uzi Vert, by the way).
In short, Harlow is still around, quietly attending events and secretly dropping music here and there. It just appears he's just exploring other avenues outside of music (i.e. film). Nonetheless, that hasn't stopped the Harlow hive from dropping demands for new tunes in his Instagram comments.
He recently promoted the energized sparkling water Phocus on Instagram, captioned "the remedy for writer's block" (fun fact: the first comment reads "bro, release some music").
Could the musician be working on new music? Hmm. Summer is around the corner. The people want new vibes for their playlists, Jack.
