Highsnobiety
Double Tap to Zoom

This Friday, April 29, we're dropping a collaboration with the legendary Berlin DJ crew Keinemusik to show solidarity for the ongoing war and crisis in Ukraine.

The release, which includes a white tee and an eggshell hoodie, puts the peace sign front-and-center. The tee is embellished with a fluffy cloud-inspired peace sign in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, while the hoodie features a blue and white peace sign on back and co-branding on front. All proceeds from the collection will go directly to the UNHCR, the UN's refugee agency.

Alongside the collection, Keinemusik is hosting its very-first pop-up shop, the Klub 60 Super Store, opening this Friday at 9pm until late. The store will be filled with things Keinemusik, TEILE as well as music, art and prints by Modha, Stefan Marx, Monja Gentschow and many others. Scroll down for the full details on the pop-up.

For the collaboration's lookbook, we wanted to work with Ukrainian creatives who have come to Berlin. Below, meet Yana Borodina and Oksana Zavora who share their perspective on the conflict and how people can help.

Yana Borodina, yoga teacher

Can you tell me a little bit about yourself and your work?

I have been practicing yoga for 9 years and I feel more interested in practicing every day. We often do not believe in our own strength, although we must try to let go of all thoughts and just do — this is what practice teaches me.

How has the process of adjusting to Berlin been for you?

I had already been to Berlin several times, so I knew perfectly well where I was going. I did not come to Berlin by chance, I like the Berlin spirit of freedom, it somehow reminds me of my beloved Kyiv.

What can people do to support Ukrainians?

That depends on what kind of support. People from Russia must overthrow their government. People from Ukraine must continue to fight and not be afraid of the future, because the light will come to Ukraine. People from Europe should not forget — understand that anyone can be next after Ukraine.

I am well aware that without being in a situation, you cannot fully appreciate it. But still, people in Europe, Ukrainians, those who left, all of us, should not forget the importance of talking about problems and fighting injustice. Financial aid is very important. People starve and suffer, get sick and die every new day. That's why more and more money transfers are needed.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I would like to say that in my opinion, if more people meditate every day, if each of us initially turned to ourselves and not to someone else, if we all were physically active, there would be fewer problems on the planet.

Oksana Zavora, nail artist

Can you tell me a little bit about yourself and your work?

I’m a creative nail artist from Kyiv. I lived in Kyiv almost all my life before the war and I loved my life in Ukraine so much. I often went to the mountains in the West of Ukraine, traveled, met people, collaborated, created, and made art.

I started doing nails almost 5 years ago. At first, I was working 1:1 with clients, but after some time, I realized that nails are a huge accessory and they are an important part of a look.

Through my work, I've met and collaborated with so many talented and interesting people from different fields: photographers, stylists, beauty artists, designers. Not everyone knows that many artists, companies, brands, and directors love to come to Ukraine to shoot a music video or make an ad, to create art in our country. In the past few years, it has become very common. That's why you always had a chance to participate in interesting projects, and meet new people from around the world.

How has the process of adjusting to Berlin been for you?

Of course, we all dream to come back home as soon as possible. But my adjustment here was quite quick. I was in Berlin many times before, as a tourist. And it feels so different. Honestly just in two weeks, I’ve started feeling myself pretty comfortable with the city. My experience of adjusting in terms of documents and formalities was very nice, I easily could set up everything.

And of course, because Berlin is so multicultural it feels so welcoming and chill. A lot of people I know from Ukraine are here now. Spending time together helps us to keep sane.

What can people do to support Ukrainians?

It is important to know what is happening in our world, and to share the truth with our relatives, friends, on our social media, so more people were aware of this. To protest if you disagree. The biggest crime would be to be silent, to put up with what is happening in our country, to make it just a sad background.

In Ukraine, there are many volunteer organizations that raise money for urgent needs, donating would help a lot and could save someone's life. Also, if you want to support Ukraine - buy Ukrainian. We have so many beautiful brands and when you buy Ukrainian, you help not only brands, you help our economy. People who experienced war are traumatized, but even a word or a hug, can help a bit. This is a test of humanity, only together can we can fight evil.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

Together with my sister, and my frien who is volunteering in Ukraine, we’ve created an ultimate charitable generative NFT collection. All funds will go to the official cryptowallet provided by the state of Ukraine.

Our avatars are Ukrainian women dressed in national clothes, wearing traditional jewelry. We took our inspiration from the paintings, photographs, and lithographies depicting the legendary richness and semantics of Ukrainian culture. We decided to emphasize it yet once again since it is Russian propaganda that tried to nullify the ancient and powerful history of independent Ukraine. No, Ukraine was neither created by Lenin nor first established after the collapse of the Soviet regime. The story of our country has started many centuries ago.

So please support Ukraine, share organizations that help our country and our people. Donate, and Stand With Ukraine. Слава Україні!
