Editor’s Notes: Following teasers, Ronnie Fieg and Kith give us an official look at the RF x New Balance 1700. According to the designer, his latest collaboration is decked out in 10 different colors of suede.

In one of his Instagram posts, Fieg wrote: “The 1700 has always been a Japanese favorite. I’ve bought a few pairs over the years and asked that New Balance allow me to work on the model *that has only once been collaborated on in the states (Barneys).”

The New Balance 1700 debuted in 1999 and combined the New England brand’s most advanced technologies, including Abzorb cushioning, and ENCAP and C-CAP midsole construction. The model has not quite reached the heights of popularity that models such as the 990, 997, and 992 have enjoyed over the years, though the 1700 has been the subject of limited collaborations in its own right. As Fieg pointed out, most of those have been with Japanese brands or labels, and once previously in the US when Barneys reworked the silhouette in 2014.

In a later Instagram post, below, Fieg unveiled a second colorway.
