Märklin

Hot off the back of their sold-out Keith Haring Message Wagon, Toy company and model train set specialist Märklin is dropping another collectible artist wagon featuring the works of Jean-Michel Basquiat. The Märklin Message Wagons are a series of signature train wagons inspired by artists, their work, and their values.

These collector's edition Basquiat wagons which come in both 37.4cm and 11.5cm sizes with a custom artist inspired box, certificate of authentication, a bio of the artist, and presentation track are emblazoned with the famous Basquiat quote “Your Life is Your Message. Make Sure That It's Inspiring" and his iconic painted Crown.

Before Basquiat achieved legend status he cut his teeth with graffiti artist Al Diaz bombing subway trains with their SAMO tag on in downtown Manhattan. It was this SAMO tag that popped up around the underground stations and walls of New York City that first drew attention to the artist and in particular the gaze of none other than Keith Haring (who featured in the first Message Wagon drop). After Basquiat put down the spray can and took his work into the gallery and studio space, well, the rest is history. In a way applying his inspirational quote on the side of one of their wagons brings the story of the artist full circle.

After the success of the first drop the Basquiat message wagons are sure to sell out fast, so be quick and go here to get yours on Friday, September 24th at 4pm CEST.
