Editors Notes: The robots which Hajime Sorayama uses in his art are both sexy and futuristic, and his sneaker collaborations are no different.

The 75-year-old Japanese illustrator is teaming up with Mizuno for a third and final time to add his own touch to the 10th generation of the sportswear company's eye-catching Wave Prophecy sneaker.

The collaboration first caught our eyes last year with a silver and white colorway that was swiftly followed up with a black counterpart and the latest colorway to drop continues to use robotic-inspired hues as informed by his "sexy robot" characters.

Rounding off the collaboration, the newest release is a "mirrored Champagne gold and white" variation. Joining previous colorways in using metallic detailing, this latest update adds translucent panels to the upper for a summer-focused update.

The artist's modifications and colorways propel this sneaker into full sci-fi territory, building on the futuristic silhouette created by Mizuno's innovative technology. Featuring arguably the craziest sole unit on the market, the shoe rests on top of the brand's INFINITY WAVE cushioning where two parallel plates sit on top of each other, leaving large air pockets that run through the midsole and give the sneaker a chunky shape.

While the INFINITY WAVE cushioning creates a distinctive stylistic statement, it is more than a mere fashion gimmick. The oversized midsole provides cushioning by absorbing and dispersing the impact at foot strike.

The performance-oriented nature of Mizuno's design process and Sorayama's artistic flair meet not only the shoe's design but also its lookbook shown above. Featuring Long Jumper Alexandra Wester and Mizuno athlete Sonia Malavisi, take an on-foot look at the shoe in the gallery above and get your pair at the Highsnobiety Shop.
