First released in 1982, New Balance recently dropped the 990v5, a modern and updated take on the timeless running silhouette that made waves over three decades ago. As the first athletic sneaker to break the $100 price barrier, the original 990 debuted as the most enduring technical running series on the market.
The updated New Balance 990v5, which released earlier this month in North America, maintains the iconic style of the original with an emphasis on more refined construction and design.
As its name suggests, the 990v5 is the fifth iteration of the 990, and while it may look similar to its 990v4 predecessor, the continued evolution of this OG dad shoe adds a TPU “power strap,” new Ortholite insert, and modern badging on the tongue and foxing for a refreshing take on a modern classic.
Retailing at $175 USD, the Grey and Navy 990v5 will be available at New Balance stores and key stockists globally on May 4 and the black colorway drops on June 1.
