During their annual IFA press conference in Berlin, Panasonic has announced it will relaunch and reinvent its iconic Technics turntable series. At the show, Panasonic presented a prototype of the new direct-drive turnable. Made from stark aluminum, the prototype features classic lines and a utilitarian aesthetic. The relaunch announcement shouldn't come as a surprise, seeing as recent data collected for the British Phonographic Industry shows that vinyl sales in the UK are up 56 percent year-on-year, reaching their highest mark since 1994.

Panasonic aren't the only ones getting in on the resurgence of vinyl, fragment design and ION Audio recently released a portable turntable for the POOL aoyama.
