It's Rihanna & Telfar's World, We're Just Living in It
It's a good day when we get another Rihanna outfit to pore over. It's an even better day if that outfit includes Telfar.
This week, our queen stepped out in LA wearing another enviable fit. If your family's ever told you not to wear those velour trackies to dinner, you can finally put forward this picture of Rih as a rebuttal.
Telfar debuted the eye-catching piece at his Fall 2020 show. The green color-blocked zip-up jacket revives a Y2K staple: the velour tracksuit. Meanwhile, the branding in itself is a take on a collegiate hoodie with its large reversed block letters. While the piece was preppily paired with horseriding trousers and boots on the runway, Rihanna flipped the script with her fit, turning the jacket into a girly ensemble perfect for a night out.
Ms. Fenty opted to pair her Telfar with a white box pleat mini-skirt from Maximilian, matching Bottega Veneta crochet bralette, dripping gold chains, and strappy white heels. Throw on a half unzipped oversized velour jacket and this is a fit from the Rihanna fashion bible.
With this look, Rihanna once again continues her support for Black designers. The popstar and business mogul has a long history of categorically plugging up-and-coming designers – just last week, she wore a crochet mini dress was made by a small Bajan designer, Instagram user @shasweets23. And for Telfar Clemens, who's fought tooth and nail to grow from a personal project into a cult brand, this endorsement is a full-circle moment.
If you want to have something in common with Rihanna, head over to Farfetch to buy the Telfar jacket while stocks last. You can also shop her Maximilian skirt at Browns. And while that Bottega Veneta crochet top is sold out – understandably – Valentino has a very similar piece, that is similarly pricey – but you can save a buck (or 800) with this alternative from Urban Outfitters.
