Here's How Robert Pattinson Landed the Role of Batman
It's been less than a week since Robert Pattinson was confirmed as the new Batman in director Matt Reeves' The Batman and The Hollywood Reporter got the inside scoop on what went down during auditions.
Although Reeves already had him in mind due to his performances in Good Time and High Life, one thing set Pattinson apart from his main competitor Nicholas Hoult: his performance in a Batsuit. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pattinson clinched the role by auditioning in a leftover Batsuit from a previous production.
According to the article, The Batman is "neither another rehashing of [Batman's] origin nor the tale of a seasoned crimefighter ruling Gotham City. Instead, it follows a 30-year-old Batman as he slowly carves out his place in Gotham City."
The film is set to be the first in a trilogy, which Reeves describes as "a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale."
