Editor’s Notes: The V1PER is the first pair of kicks to be launched by the luxury Italian label under the creative direction of British designer Paul Surridge. Making its debut on the runway at Pitti Uomo this summer, the sneaker celebrates the fashion house’s clashing aesthetic blending artisanal craft with the glamorous “more is more” appeal of Cavalli.

While in Florence for the event, the brand took the opportunity to shoot a promo video for the new kicks. In true Cavalli form, the video is a fast-paced and energetic mashup of glitz, glamour, and style. It captures model Luka Sabbat carrying the sneakers around Florence intercepted with glimpses of the brand’s runway show, as well as stop-motion like shots of the ocean, Florence monuments, and closeups of stylish passers-by. Quite the mashup.

The sneaker itself follows suit. Like Cavalli’s SS19 collection, which featured a healthy dose of animal print, clashed bold patterns, and glitzy accents, the statement sneakers are a bold fusion of luxurious materials with, of course, a hint of animalistic flair.

In total, the drop will feature five sneakers — three with laces and two without. The former iteration comes in triple white as well as in black with iridescent hologram inserts, and for those after maximum luxe, there’s a flamboyant gold version too. Meanwhile, the laceless version is available in black and in a tiger twiga motif with yellow accents.
