It's Function First With Our Waterproof Outerwear Drop
For the latest drop from its spring/summer 2023 collection, our in-house label has gotten more technical than ever, crafting a lightweight, waterproof jacket that thrives when the heavens open.
It's an ode to the utilitarian 90s designs that first got us excited about highly-weatherproof fabrics, before the word "gorpcore" had graced anyone's lips, but with a refined look and contemporary technology.
"This jacket is my modern view on Y2K technical wear," says Nin Truong, Design Director for the Highsnobiety brand.
The designer points to the early years of function-focused hype as a starting reference and point of inspiration, a time when you had skaters like Harold Hunter in hiking jackets and graffiti artists stealing expensive GORE-TEX outerwear.
Looking back to those years led to creating a jacket that not only looks like it's ready for outdoor exploration but also has the performance to match.
Crafted from 3-layer nylon fabric, with Highsnobiety-branded taped seams, watertight zippers, and adjustable toggles, the new design is entirely waterproof. Plus, to add an extra layer of functionality, two large mountaineering-style pockets on the front provide ample carrying space.
With a two-tone, color-blocked finish (available in either off-white with stone grey detailing or navy blue and beige), the more muted hues are a contrast to the jacket's sporty look and performance, making it versatile to style with more formal wares or with casual, wide-leg pants and Air Force 1s — as Central Cee did in our recent editorial.
Following on from the release of our loose-knit sweaters and elevated staples, this drop shows the Highsnobiety brand continues to explore new ground with its first-ever fully waterproof design. And there's a lot more to look forward to from upcoming SS23 drops, all available exclusively at the Highsnobiety Shop.
