Iconic sports film The Sandlot celebrated its 25th anniversary earlier this year. Now, rumors surrounding a possible reboot have been confirmed, as a prequel for the 1993 comedy-drama is officially in the works at 20th Century Fox, The Hollywood Reporter discloses.

Little info surrounding the upcoming film has been revealed, but the project is said to be in advanced development at the studio. The movie will be written by original Sandlot director and writer David Mickey Evans, alongside new writer Austin Reynolds.

As it stands, the plot and casting have yet to be disclosed. The original picture, however, starred a group of kids who play baseball virtually every day at The Sandlot. The cast included Tom Guiry, Chauncey Leopardi, Brandon Quintin Adams, Shane Obedzinski, Victor DiMattia, Marty York, Grant Gelt, and Patrick Renna. James Earl Jones also starred in the film.
