With so many kicks on the market, finding the best of the best calls for a little bit more than just strolling into the shoe store with some spare change. To help you isolate the best of the bunch, our Sneaker of the Week is a chance for us to highlight some shoes that you need to add to your rotation. Thanks to some help from our partners at Finish Line, we’re calling out the best sneakers on shelves today.

While so many shoes promise to marry ‘sport’ and ‘style’ there’s a real artistry to combining the two elements. Naturally, a shoe needs to be comfortable and balanced with contemporary tech—but that shouldn’t come at the cost of not feeling fresh every time you lace up. Fortunately, Under Armour has a simple solution that meets both worlds smack in the middle: the Slingride Herringbone.

As Under Armour’s answer to the call for street-ready, sport-inspired shoes, the Slingride series is one of the brand’s most versatile shoes. While the shoe earns its name through the eye-catching herringbone print that adorns the upper, there’s still plenty of substance to support the style. Naturally, the herringbone fabric isn’t just highly breathable and flexible, the upper is constructed out of Dyneema®—a material known as “the world’s strongest fiber”—ensuring a smooth-yet-stabilized ride in a variety of conditions.

The Slingride Herringbone isn’t just boasting a high-tech upper though, the base is just as forward thinking. UA’s proprietary Charged Cushioning® fuses a soft layer of foam over top of a dense foam layer, resulting in a supportive midsole that’s still ready to bounce back. But the real standout feature on this sneaker has to be the asymmetric zonal compression areas which turn every stride into an explosive step forward.

Making a sport shoe that’s ready to be street styled is a requirement for any label worth their salt. With Under Armour making major moves into the footwear game—shouts to their basketball division—it’s nice to see the Baltimore-based company creating fire footwear that’s ready to shine off the court. If you’ve never slipped-on a pair of shoes from Under Armour, don’t sleep; the Slingride Herringbone is the perfect way to step into the brand’s kicks.
