Highsnobiety
Double Tap to Zoom

Last week, Birkenstock unveiled its latest innovation, the Footbed for sneakers, with a celebratory launch event at the Highsnobiety Store on Unter den Linden. This special occasion marked a significant milestone in Birkenstock's 250-year legacy, showcasing their enduring commitment to seamlessly blending form and function. It's Birkenstock comfort and support for any shoe in your repertoire—what's not to love?

Given the excitement around the new drop, we pulled out all the stops for the evening. Cocktails inspired by wellness? Check. An immersive installation documenting the brand’s development over the course of three centuries? Check. A minimalist treadmill concept that invited attendees to engage with Birkenstock’s philosophy of effortless movement? Check, check, check. Far from a static series of displays, Birkenstock really showed that they’re doing more than simply talking the talk, they’re undeniably walking the walk (with ergonomic support, of course).

Accompanying this dynamic setup was a carefully curated soundtrack by DJ Helina, whose atmospheric set moved fluidly between textured beats and understated rhythms. Her music complemented the installation’s purposeful aesthetic, fostering an environment of relaxed sophistication that set the tone for the evening.

Highsnobiety’s close friends and family gathered for the event, bringing together a curated group of creatives and tastemakers. Among those in attendance were Amelie Büchner and Alan Bayer of Studio Schmaus, Felix Klein, Lilo Klinkenberg, Maidatou Agbere, and DJ Helina, too. Each guest had the opportunity to experience the Birkenstock footbed technology firsthand, stepping onto the treadmill installation to see how the innovative design felt in action. As they tested the footbed, we caught up with them to hear their thoughts on the seamless fusion of comfort and style.

Over cocktails inspired by wellness and some booming baselines from dearest DJ Maidatou, those in attendance meditated on what it means to move through the world with intention and grace. With help from an iconic German brand whose philosophy encapsulates timelessness, functional design that personal expression, it was evident we left standing on a stronger foundation that the one we entered the party on.
