A day past 2024's first Monday in May, we've ravaged through best-dressed lists, rushed to our favorite meme pages, and congregated in group chats to debate the yays and nays of this year's Met Gala getups. Having done so, some may wonder how to channel what they liked into an everyday wardrobe. Well, now no longer, as we've curated a little something to inspire your everyday-appropriate reinterpretation of the 2024 Met Gala theme. But let's rehash quickly.

"Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" is the exhibition's theme, and "The Garden of Time" was its opening night's corresponding dress code. The former's a nod to the beloved fairytale and the hosting Costume Institute's preservation of artisanal fashion, while the latter alludes to J.G. Ballard's short story of the same name. In it, a couple's home is on the brink of being overrun by an angry mob, only to be slowed down by the flowers of time that grow in their garden and reverse the mob's movement towards them.

After thoroughly scanning every attendee's wielding of said references, a key takeaway to emerge from our pile of evidence is that most celebs, designers, and stylists opted for a literal reenactment of their source material: adorned in glistening floral laces, branch-like embroidery, sculptural body-con, and liquid-looking textiles, the who's who of pop culture ascended up the steps of the iconic New York museum.

If you're more of a minimalist as far as pure apparel goes, maybe you can be persuaded into an accessory, or jewelry – something botanical like this lily stud, perhaps?

Not only does the black base of this shirt remind of Cardi B's dramatic, breathtakingly vast gown last night, it also recalls another Met Gala 'fit. Ding ding ding! It's Kim Kardashian's Givenchy dress from 2013. The roses here seem like they were oil-painted onto the shirt and have a gothic, romantic air about them – as well they should, seeing as the garment was co-designed by the band The Cure.

This sandy denim's a wink at Met Gala debutante and viral South African musician Tyla's literal hourglass look, whereas its daisy appliqués connect to the floral motif shared by Sleeping Beauty and The Garden of Time.

The flora in flora and fauna does not pertain to flowers, exclusively, but all kinds of greenery. Therefore, these silk-blend bottoms link to the woodsy, ethereal, mystical aura of last night's best dressed, without tipping into the bouquets and blossoms of it all. Even though they might as well have, because, evidently, florals in spring are groundbreaking after all.

Nike x Jacquemus Swoosh Sweats

Last but not least, here's what might be a bit of a head scratcher – but hear me out! In their latest collab, Nike and Jacquemus came up with these cut-out-pattern pieces that appear as though they've been hole-punched with a Swoosh. However, if you allow yourself a wee bit of imagination, the passionate red, in combination with the slits, somehow evoke the image of a thorny rose, tearing through fabric. Who knew sweatpants could be this theatrical?
