As 2024 draws to a close, one thing in the footwear world has become clear: it’s been a big year for PUMA. From revitalizing archive silhouettes to collabing with some of the biggest names in the business, the sportswear giant has been truly relentless. And as drop upon drop has hit the spot, the internet’s been left wondering: does the big cat ever miss?

But, with so many gorgeous shoes out there to choose from, which one should you be putting on your holiday wish list?

Few brands have so many silhouettes with such distinct personalities—which means your choice of which to go for is naturally a reflection of your own. So, here it is: your (un)official guide to PUMA’s 2024 offerings, according to your character. If we’re shady—catty, if you will— we’re not sorry. You know what they say about heat and kitchens…

MOSTRO

First up, we’re getting freaky. The Mostro wearer is probably the biggest personality on this list. Their outfits are crazy and they’re impossibly loud, but put them in any environment that isn’t overstimulating and they’ll fall asleep immediately. Their hair is dyed (obviously), they’re big on board games, and they’re great company—but know that if you go for drinks, you’re paying.

The Mostro has been released in so many colorways this year, we could probably write a whole essay about its subgenres. But that’s a story for another day.

SPEEDCAT

Are you chronically online? Barely graduated? Is your TikTok For You page dominated by styling vids and astrological affirmations?

Next up is the undeniable winner of 2024: the Speedcat. Little Miss Low Profile really was all anybody could talk about for the latter half of this year, and it graced the feet of some of the biggest stars out there. It makes sense, then, that this is the pop girl’s footwear of choice. Her eyebrows are bleached, tooth gems popping, and a certain sickly-green album tops her Spotify Wrapped. Don’t mess with her.

EXTOS COLLECTOR

A Dad shoe never goes out of style, right?

If you have 5 pairs of blue jeans in your wardrobe and not much else, the Extos Collector might just be for you. But that’s far from a drag: the Extos Collector is for arty kids and adults alike that can pull off a grandpa look with ease. A little on the quieter side, these characters slip about town but are always in bed before midnight—they have work tomorrow, they say. No one quite knows what this work is, but it has something to do with ceramics for sure. And they’re a loyal friend, so who cares?

INHALE

Think of the Inhale like a tomboyish cousin of the Speedcat. It’s still got that sleek, low profile feel, but it’s a little bit chunkier, a little bit knobblier, a little bit cheekier. Spot one of these on the street and you’ll likely notice a super baggy fit and an impossibly relaxed, labradorish energy soon after. The Inhale wearer is eternally the centre of their friendship group—which is frustrating, because they’ll leave you on delivered for weeks. They’re figuring things out, they say, taking life as it comes.

If you enjoyed Monster Munch when you were a kid and still dress like a 12-year-old boy, then this is the silhouette for you. Heck, it’s even got flames on the side. Go for the A$AP collab if you’re feeling really naughty.
