The 8 Moncler Palm Angels Collection Drops Today, Here’s How to Cop
The 8 Moncler Palm Angels collection drops today as part of the 2019 Moncler Genius project. Designed by Francesco Ragazzi, the collection is one of nine Moncler Genius collections to drop across the year, featuring 10 of the most cutting edge designers from around the world.
Typical of Palm Angels’ streetwear infused aesthetic, the 8 Moncler Palm Angels collection uses 'Mind Control' as a central slogan and inspiration point. The result is a collection resting somewhere between "art gallery atmosphere and abrasive urban attitude", according to Moncler; an aesthetic very much between Palm Angels’s LA streetwear vibes and the rarefied European luxury of Moncler.
What this translates to is a collection featuring color blocking in bright primary and secondary "candy wrapper" shades, heavy collage, distressed and laminate material (such as nylon, and graffiti-sprayed logos and slogans on Moncler's signature puffer jackets as well as t-shirts, duvets (gilets), 'rave'-inspired trousers, varsity jackets, striped jumpers, hooded sweats, and even scarves.
Moncler teased the collection earlier this year at its Moncler Genius One House Different Voices event in Milan in February. Here, Ragazzi, along with Pierpaolo Piccioli and Liya Kebede, Sergio Zambon and Veronica Leoni for 2 Moncler 1952, Sandro Mandrino for 3 Moncler Grenoble, Simone Rocha, Craig Green, Matthew Williams of 1017 ALYX 9SM, Richard Quinn, Fragment Hiroshi Fujiwara, and Poldo Dog Couture each unveiled their collections. The mantra: one house, different voices.
As well as welcoming designers Matthew Williams of 1017 ALYX 9SM and Richard Quinn for 2019, Moncler Genius is evolving beyond a series of collection launches and bridging the gaps between fashion, music, and art. For 2019, the new Moncler Genius World Tour 19-20 will culminate in a series of live events with artists at key points around the world. Meanwhile, to celebrate the 8 Moncler Palm Angels launch, Ragazzi has partnered with Moncler in London, New York, and Milan for a series of disruptive "art breaking" installations and moments.
"I started with the idea of a vandalized art gallery," explains Francesco Ragazzi. "The purity of the lines and form that are in a second moment clashed with a protest. Moncler for me is about the simplicity of a product that comes to life in many forms. I wanted to have the form broken."
The 8 Moncler Palm Angels collection is also available online now at Moncler.com, Moncler boutiques and in selective wholesale networks worldwide.
