A Kind of Guise Went on a Road Trip This Season
There’s little I look forward to each season as much as an A Kind of Guise collection. Call me sad, but like a kid at Christmas or a dog over leftover lamb shank, I’m physically pumped for it to arrive.
For me, A Kind of Guise is a brand that evokes maturity and sophistication, a label that steers clear of hype and fanfare, instead carving its own path in an effortlessly stylish (and very German) manner. It's a brand that's doing what it wants, when it wants, and asks people to join, if they want.
This season, the Munich-based label is inviting us on a “Road to Nowhere,” a collection inspired by the lonely highways of North America, journeying through some of its most picturesque locations.
Starting out in Colorado, the journey follows the state’s cross-country routes and breathtaking landscapes, stopping at roadside diners and truck-stops.
In between snow-capped mountains and rock formations, are calm lakes and endless highways, all of which served as inspiration for the colors, patterns, and textures used throughout Fall/Winter 2022.
The collection itself is eye-catching. In-house prints make their debuts on the 100% silk Derbin Shirt, with the Dullu Shirts arriving in a myriad of fuzzy woolen fabrics.
A western-inspired look with matching Yukon jacket and Sunderland pants from finest buffalo suede sets a statement at any given day, with cashmere-merino knits such as the Badger Sweater and Nulato Pullunder ensuring coziness on the next adventure.
Rather than following trends or going with the curve, A Kind of Guise goes one step further by creating its own, using each collection to tell an untold story, or explore the unexplored. But TBH, whatever it's doing, it's doing it right and is yet to put a foot wrong.
