adidas & Arsenal Reissue Iconic ’90s Home Jersey
Arsenal and adidas Originals have dropped another remake of an OG retro kit, this time reissuing the 1990-92 home jersey. The kit was worn by the Gunners team that won the 1990/91 First Division title with only one loss in 38 games.
adidas is currently Arsenal’s kit manufacturer, having been so in the ’90s as well, and is, therefore, able to bring back 1:1 original remakes of retro shirts without running into trademark issues.
This is not the first time that adidas and Arsenal have taken advantage of their partnership to bring back an iconic jersey. Last December the duo brought back the iconic “Bruised Banana” away jersey in OG form.
This year’s jersey features OG AFC embroidery on the collar, adidas trefoil logo on the chest, and Arsenal’s famous “Victoria Concordia Crescit” crest, complete with cannon and gothic typeface. Additionally, Arsenal’s recognizable JVC sponsor is emblazoned across the front of the shirt.
In addition to the home kit, adidas Originals has produced a tracksuit top and matching tracksuit pant, hoody, and club jacket, all of which feature the aforementioned crest. Arsenal players wore the tracksuit top ahead of the club’s game against Burnley on Sunday.
The entire collection is available from December 15 via adidas, official club stores, and select retailers such as Pro:Direct.
