Aether is no slouch when it comes to creating sleek technical apparel. Standing out from the crowd by embedding a sense of exploration within its streamlined offering, there’s a lot to discover when shopping with Aether—whether you live in the city, or are planning out your next mountainside getaway. As the California-based label is introducing a weather-ready Fall/Winter 2016 collection, it’s also showcasing its updated website—which was fully revamped last month in September 2016.

The wonderful thing about Aether isn’t just that they identify which climates and environments are best suited for its garments (slotting garments into categories like “city” and “mountain” or “motorcycle” and “active”). Aether shines by having season after season of garments that are flexible enough to comfortably translate between categories. Take, for example, the brand’s Fall/Winter collection. Naturally, the all-new Ion jacket can be worn on its own as the label’s riff on the classic bomber jacket. That said its quilted, 800-fill power goose down build means that it’s an excellent second layer on especially chilly days.

Functionality isn’t the only factor at the core of every Aether product though, style plays a major role as well. That probably why the city-centric herringbone Crosby jacket looks like the ideal contemporary topcoat that every guy needs in his closet. But that’s not to say that Aether opted for form over function; the Crosby is outfitted with three-layer, 100 percent wool outer exterior, 100 grams of PrimaLoft Gold insulation, and has a seam-sealed finish. Don’t get it twisted, this coat can hang.

But while Aether’s outerwear is basically begging to be obsessed over, we’d be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the brand’s base layering pieces. Consider the Sequence jacket—an inner shell layer that can be worn under a coat or on its own. Boasting a minimal construction, it’s ready to move from the commute, to the office, to after-work drinks.

Explore Aether’s new Fall/Winter 2016 collection on the label’s brand-new website—just don’t get too distracted by the crisp layout, detailed features, and beautiful lifestyle photography. With the collection already available online right this minute, the only thing holding you back is deciding which piece(s) you can’t survive the season without.
