Editor’s Notes: Nike has officially announced its Chinese New Year collection, headlined by an Air Jordan 1 Low, Dunk Low Pro, and the above Nike Air Jordan 5 Low. The highlight of the Air Jordan 5 Low is that it features a tearaway upper that can either be torn off or wears away with time to reveal a fire cracker-inspired pattern.

The retro Sail/Fire Red colorway is a classic and — while low top versions of Jordan sneakers have traditionally been shunned as the ugly stepchild of the OG hightops, this CNY-themed pair makes us rethink that.

In terms of branding, the Air Jordan 5 Low "CNY" features the signature Jumpman logo on the tongue, insole, and outsole, as well as Chinese New Year-specific insignias on the back of the tongue and on the heel.

Nike has announced that the Jordan Brand portion of its CNY collection will begin to be released on January 14. No word yet on whether these will be China-exclusive.
