Amazon has announced that Prime Day will be delayed this year. The company shared the news on Twitter today, July 21, stating, "We’ll be bringing #PrimeDay savings to members later than usual this year. Safety of our employees, customers, and selling partners remains our #1 priority."

News of the postponement comes as businesses are still dealing with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. And while Amazon has seen an increase in demand, the virus has affected worldwide operations nonetheless.

“Over the last five years, Prime Day has become a special celebration and time for Prime members to shop incredible deals for themselves and for friends and family – and it’s something we look forward to every year,” a spokesperson told TechCrunch. ”This year we’ll be holding Prime Day later than usual, while ensuring the safety of our employees and supporting our customers and selling partners."

Prime members in India, however, will be able to take advantage of Prime Day savings on August 6 and August 7. "We are excited Prime members in India will see savings on August 6th - 7th, and that members all around the world will experience Prime Day later this year,” the spokesperson added.

Last year, Prime Day ran for two days in the United States beginning on July 15, while commencing on July 16 in 2018.
