AMBUSH & UGG's Loafer Is Hairy-Bodied & Bushy-Tailed
AMBUSH's collaboration with UGG puts a highly unconventional (and highly hairy) spin on traditional footwear styles. These aren’t cozy sheepskin UGG shoes as you know them.
Comprising a dainty pair of Mary Janes and a backless penny loafer, this four-piece collection is a hair-covered experiment done in the name of comfort.
"I want the collaboration to bring comfort to the reality of everyday life,” says YOON, co-founder and creative director of AMBUSH, in a statement.
“Personally? I love Mary Janes and loafers and wanted to create a more relaxed version of them with UGG. These styles are versatile and can match many looks, from casual to dressy.”
Offered in either pink or white, almost the entire outsides of the Mary Janes are covered in long strands of furry sheepskin.
And on the mule-ified loafers, the hair is barely contained under a coin-wielding leather strap (known as a saddle) and also lines the insole. But in case that isn’t enough fluffy fabric for you, there’s also a removable hairy heel that can be added to the loafers.
Basically, if you want, these loafers can have a bushy tail.
Launching on February 21, these might be the hairiest loafers since Gucci debuted its goat hair slippers back in 2015. That puts them in the running for the hairiest loafers of the decade.
At a time when sneaker-loafer hybrids have become commonplace, I’ve become accustomed to seeing weird and wonderful takes on these traditional leather shoes. And yet, the hairy extent of UGG x AMBUSH loafers still took me by surprise.
