Angel Reese Made Sure Her Reebok Collab Was "Stylish & Fierce"
Reebok and WNBA All-Star Angel Reese’s collaborative collection, “Reebok by Angel,” marks a transformative moment for both partners.
Its origin can be traced back to early 2023 when Reese was still a collegiate athlete and Shaquille O'Neal, newly appointed as president of Reebok Basketball, launched a campaign to bring fresh, influential faces to the brand. "My first acquisition in this role had to be a GOAT. And today there is no one who has a greater impact on the game than Angel Reese," O'Neal said in a press release. "Angel is disrupting the space, as Reebok has done for so long."
Fast forward to today. Angel Reese, now a 22-year-old forward for the WNBA Chicago Sky, is impacting the game both on and off the court just as Shaq predicted, both selected for the WNBA All-Star team and a strong contender for Rookie of the Year alongside Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.
The timing is right as WNBA and Reebok are both in periods of transition.
The WNBA is drawing record-breaking viewership (up 183% from last season), for the first time in league history; three franchises have sold out their annual season tickets for home games; new franchises are set to launch in the Bay Area in 2025 and Toronto in 2026; much-hyped new talent like Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and Cameron Banks are ushering the league into the future. Reebok, meanwhile, is bouncing back into the basketball game following its winning streak in the ‘90s and early 2000s, preparing to go up against rivals like Nike and adidas.
The Angel Reese x Reebok collection, set to launch on August 23 via Reebok and select retailers worldwide, is the first step into that new era. Centered around two timeless Reebok sneakers — the BB 4000 II, a silhouette inspired by vintage Reebok basketball designs, and the signature retro-runner Classic Leather — Reese’s Reebok line also includes a Vector track jacket, crop top, wide pants and bike shorts in metallic tones. Reese’s favorite piece is the Lux 7/8 Bodysuit in ”Always Blue,” she tells Highsnobiety.
"[Reebok] serves as a true creative partner, and we’re really able to collaborate on pieces designed to elicit confidence and expression,” Reese tells Highsnobiety. “Being able to work with legends like Uncle Shaq and Allen Iverson, and to represent women in basketball is also an incredible honor."
The 'Reebok by Angel' collection was born to reflect Reese's personality through its striking color palette, featuring shades like ”Always Blue” and “Silver Chrome.” The collection’s standout design elements are much less subtle, with “'Unapologetically Angel” graphics and custom sockliners printed with a typically uncompromising Reese quote: "When They Sleep on You…Tuck Them In!"
Behind the scenes, Reese was heavily involved in the design process. "I worked hand-in-hand with the brand to ensure each and every piece is designed to elicit confidence and expression," she says in the press release. "I wanted to create a collection that allowed women and girls everywhere to embrace their femininity and power in whatever they’re doing.
