Apple Predicted to Release Smart Glasses by 2020 & Car by 2023
Reputable analyst and Apple insider Ming-Chi Kuo is predicting that Apple will release its augmented reality glasses by 2020 and a car three to five years after that, Business Insider reports. Kuo broke the news in a TF Securities research note that was sent out this week.
"Services, AR, and Apple Car will create Apple's next trillion-dollar market cap," Kuo noted, surrounding talk of the company reaching a $2 trillion market cap, after just recently hitting the monumental $1 trillion mark. The first step in getting there, again, is augmented reality glasses, which Apple has reportedly been working on for some time now.
"We predict that AR is the next-generation revolutionary UI; we therefore think that AR does not need any killer applications given it is a killer application already," the analyst added. "We expect Apple will redefine the UIs of existing products by offering an AR experience created by the AR glass, which will likely be launched in 2020."
Kuo also went on to mention Apple's next "star product," an Apple Car, predicted to arrive between 2023 and 2025. The company's car division, Project Titan, is currently performing autonomous driving tests in California.
