Art Basel Lovers Finally Have Official Merch
Have you ever loved something so much that you wish to take it home? Well, the dream has become a reality for Art Basel fans.
During the art fair's latest installment in Basel, Art Basel debuted its first-ever retail concept, Art Basel Shop, marking the first opportunity for visitors to cop Art Basel merch.
According to a press statement, Art Basel Shop offered a range of “new, exclusive, and rare and special-edition collectibles across art, design, fashion, and publishing," all curated by Sarah Andelman, the queen of cool concept stores (long live Colette!).
Among Art Basel Shop's debut lineup, the brand introduced AB by Art Basel, essentially a dedicated line of Art Basel hoodies, tees, totes, and Unlimited sector-inspired "goodies."
Art Basel Shop also included an Artist Collection, products created in collaboration with a chosen artist. The star of the first Artist Collection, you may ask? Christine Sun Kim.
For the first Art Basel Artist Collection, Kim delivered pieces like dinnerware sets, jigsaw puzzles, and clothes recalling some of the artist's famous works and design codes.
Elsewhere at the Art Basel Shop, you may catch other exclusive pieces like collectible decks designed by Cindy Sherman and miniature remakes of Jean-Michel Basquiat Ferris Wheel Toy by Luna Luna (F.Y.I. the renowned art-themed amusement park just reopened this year).
Basel, Louis Vuitton's pocketbook travel guide to the Swiss city, was also available at the Art Basel Shop as part of a limited-edition reading selection.
Although Basel's Art Basel Shop has since ended — it was open to the public from June 11 to June 16 in Basel — the retail concept will follow with the fair's other extensions like Art Basel Miami and Art Basel Paris.
"See you in Paris and Miami," Andelman teases.
