Banksy Is Handing out "Free Palestine" Posters at London's World Travel Market
The annual World Travel Market is an exclusive U.K. event for the global travel industry, and for this year, the elusive street artist Banksy is in attendance.
On an Instagram post last Friday, Banksy wrote, "Opening my first ever stall at a trade fair next week... We’ll be at the Palestine stand giving away free stuff, World Travel Fair, London Excel centre 6th and 7th November. Free to get in if you register online today and pretend to be a travel agent."
For the event, Banksy created a replica separation barrier which spotlights his installation "The Walled Off Hotel" -- built along the West Bank barrier that places an emphasis on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The replica version will be featured on Banksy's stand, and consists of two young winged angels, each representing Israel and Palestine respectively, as well as the wall that divides Israel from the Palestinian West Bank.
"I’ve painted a replica separation barrier to promote the Walled Off hotel," Banksy wrote. "Ironically the neighbours have complained it’s too tall."
On Tuesday, the world renowned artist also announced a special "Free Palestine poster" that will be given at the fair. "Be advised we only have 1000 posters to hand out each day at the tourist fair. You can download one from the website at www.banksy.co.uk," he wrote.
The World Travel Market is currently taking place at ExCeL London beginning November 5 until November 7. If you're near or visiting the area, head on over to the official address below.
