What to Wear to the Beach This Summer
Whether you're comfortable with the idea just yet or not, borders are opening up around the world and flights are leaving the tarmac once again. While some of you might have already been lucky enough to be spending lockdown near sandy shores, for the landlocked among us, like me, the wait to hit the beach post-lockdown has been agonizing at times.
Now that the wait is over, it's important that you invest those built-up energies in looking the part. No one wants a day at the beach spoilt by inappropriate clothing. As well as going for lightweight looks, it's important to keep things sensible. That means hats, sunglasses, and, of course, the essential extras like sunscreen.
To get you started, we've picked out some highlight items currently available at Farfetch that we'll be incorporating into our beach outfit this summer. From bucket hats for the head to slides and sandals at the toes, you'll find pointers for every part of the body below.
Scroll on to check our beach outfit tips.
Casablanca Bucket Hat
Casablanca and Jacquemus continue to battle it out over who deserves the go-to summer outfitter crown. Here, the former serves up more of its Versace-vibe goods, this time in the form of a pretty ostentatious headwear item.
Polo Ralph Lauren Bucket Hat
If you're more about the pared-back beach look, then this sandy cap from Polo Ralph Lauren will help you blend in. Just warn your friends that they might not spot you.
Prada Sunglasses
Hats ticked off, the next sensible step is a pair of sunglasses. Perhaps less on the sensible side is copping a pair by Prada. But hey, you've been indoors for months saving up that cash. You earnt it.
Casablanca Short Sleeve Shirt
Another one from warm-weather champion Casablanca in our beach outfit selection, and not the last, either. Camp collars are as essential as sunscreen in my opinion, and you can do far worse than this classy orange peel piece.
Casablanca x New Balance T-Shirt
Depending on the setting and social situation, a shirt like the one above could be a little OTT for your beach trip. A simple tee is never too much, and this one also happens to feature the sneaker of summer by Casablanca and New Balance. As the shoe sold out at high speed, this is the next best thing.
Jacquemus Swim Shorts
Like Casablanca, Jacquemus has become synonymous with summer wardrobes. For SS20, the brand got obsessed with covering its garments in painted fruit and vegetables. This pair of swimmers, complete with an all-over artichoke print, is one fine example.
True Tribe Swim Shorts
If your look is more of a sportswear-leaning one, then these shorts by True Tribe might be more suited to you than the Jacquemus option above. Iridescent is always a winner, after all, and it looks even better under the sun.
Teva Hurricane XLT2 Sandals
Teva has been a trusted label for decades, having birthed the OG sport sandal back in the '80s. Keeping things functional first, the Hurricane XLT2 sandals are equally as adept for strolling on the beach as they are for hiking a hillside trail.
Suicoke Slides
OK, so you probably wouldn't want to tread trails in a pair of Suicoke slides, but this pair, complete with standout pink ties, will look extra hot on the beach.
Off-White™ Tote Bag
A successful trip to the beach requires a healthy amount of portable essentials — sunscreen, speakers, a towel to name just a few. With your outfit on point, it would help to finish it off by carrying such essentials in a designer tote. Off-White™'s arrow motif tote is a great option.
