2024's Best Sneaker Collaborations – So Far
"Teamwork makes the dream work", they say. Though I find this saying rather corny, sometimes it rings true – like in the event of creatives joining forces to merge two established, often unexpectedly compatible visions. Now that we're about 2/3s into the year, it seemed a good time to review 2024's best sneaker collaborations – so far.
An archival catalog of just about everything that goes on in the world of street- and footwear, StockX doubled as both the database we picked some of our favorite releases from, and the place to actually go purchase them.
God knows there were plenty of options to sift through, seeing as collabs today are a dime a dozen. But following an informal staff pole, we ultimately settled on the styles below – though time will tell if all of them can keep their spot, or if some'll bow out for models yet to come.
But so, without further ado, see here our contenders for best sneaker collabs of 2024, in alphabetical order. Tbc.
The Best Sneaker Collabs of 2024 – As of Now
Saucony x Jae Tips
Bronx designer Jae Tips' Saucony shoe features multiple colors and materials to represent the various stages of life and creation. Branded with "You should make a to-do list today" on one insole, it serves as a reminder to tackle each day with intention and creativity, while "Comfortable shoes" on the other insole emphasizes their intended support in chasing your goals.
adidas x Bad Bunny
Part of his ongoing partnership with adidas, Bad Bunny's stylishly restrained Indoor Gazelle proves that it's not what screams the loudest that looks the best. While we're yet to hear of an official date for the launch of his equally enticing ballerina sneakers, these here sit comfortably on our list, as a surprisingly timeless evergreen.
ASICS x Kiko Kostadinov
For far more than just a single stint have Kiko and ASICS made a fantastic match. These most recent Gel-Fammaes are merely one of many examples of how well the Bulgarian-born, London-based designer and the Japanese sports gear experts' eclectic POVs mix.
ASICS x The Museum Visitor
Another ASICS contribution, we found The Museum Visitor's edit of the Gel-Kayano to be particularly convincing. A fusion of a meshy running shoe classic and the ominous South Korean label's campy, kitschy handwriting, this pairing goes for – and gets – gold, literally.
HOKA x Satisfy
Both HOKA and Satisfy are relatively new on the scene, but have made quite the dent in it – the former for its innovatively cushioned running shoes, the latter for its avant-garde running apparel. That said, they could've easily gone way overboard, but kept it tastefully gorpy, just how we like it.
New Balance x Joe Freshgoods
Speaking of, New Balance's Joe Freshgoods co-op dials up the volume just the right amount, for a shoe that's as wearable as its pure blooded half-siblings, but with distinguishing design features to make for a unique, techy leather sneaker.
Nike x Nina Chanel Abney
Painter Nina Chanel Abney's guest gig at Nike brought forth this wonderfully vibrant, denim and suede sneaker unlike anything we've seen Nike or its competitors recently do.
Nike x Nigel Sylvester
Again, there's more to Nike collabs than basketball shoes, and BMX pro Nigel Sylvester's work with the athletic wear giant speaks for itself in that regard.
Salomon x KAR
Lastly, we went with Salomon's KAR L'Art De L'Automobile mash-up. The two french brands have little in common regularly, one being a storied household name for all things outdoorsy hobbies, the other a prominent but far younger automobile publication with a knack for race cars and related merchandise. But maybe it's that exact contrast that lends this flaming-hot shoe its irresistibility?
