The Best Resale Deals on Takashi Murakami Pieces Right Now
Japanese artist Takashi Murakami continues to make strides within the fashion world. His resume includes work with everyone from Vans to Louis Vuitton, while collaborations with musicians such as Pharrell Williams and Kanye West have given his beloved "superflat" artistic style some serious appeal, with a particularly dope drop with Porter rumored to come this Spring.
Murakami is best known for combining traditional Japanese art aesthetics with popular culture, with his most iconic work coming from the recurring motif of his smiling flower. As with his contemporaries such as KAWS, his collaborations tend to be met by much hype and inevitably sell out with speed.
Fortunately, though, resale platforms such as StockX and Stadium Goods remain a point of insurance for such design grails, and here we've pinned down some particularly dope pieces on the secondary marketplace to add or begin to your collection.
Most notably, highlights from Murakami's work with Drake's label October's Very Own which dropped last December can still be secured at reasonable price points. The collection came with apparel and accessories that blended the artist's flowerhead with the OVO owl logo, and was made exclusively available at the OVO Vancouver flagship.
Other highlights with good deals right now include the Mr. Dob figure and skate deck made in collaboration with BAIT, which sold out swiftly when they were sold at ComplexCon in November 2017.
