Bill Gates’ $43 Million Del Mar Mansion Is the Quarantine Crash Pad of Our Dreams
Bill Gates recently bought a $43 million home in Del Mar, California, accounting for one of the biggest purchases in the area. The oceanfront property was previously owned by Madeleine Pickens, the former wife of oil and gas entrepreneur T. Boone Pickens, who passed away in September of last year.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Pickens acquired the property in 2007 for $48.15 million, meaning the family took a loss after the recent sale. The Del Mar mansion was, however, listed for $48 million, although Bill and Melinda Gates were able to get the price down to $43 million.
The property boasts a 5,800-square-foot residence with six bedrooms, four bathrooms, and two guest houses. It includes a swimming pool, 10-person jacuzzi, health spa, tennis court, and theater.
And if the Gates ever somehow manage to feel cooped up inside the home, they can take advantage of the 120 feet of unobstructed ocean views.
The sprawling Del Mar Mansion joins the Gates' other properties including an $18 million estate in California, an $8.7 million estate in Florida, and a $5 million mansion in Florida. They also bought their daughter a $5 million condo in New York City when she graduated from Stanford.
