After much speculation, director Ryan Coogler has announced that Black Panther 2 (a working title) will premiere May 22, 2022.

Coogler made the announcement at the D23 Expo. Over the course of the weekend, Disney revealed a number of exciting announcements including details of the forthcoming Disney+ streaming service, a look at the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker poster, and news of Kit Harington's recruitment to the MCU.

An official release date for the next Black Panther film is undoubtedly one of the biggest takeaways from the expo, though. There's no word yet as to whether Kendrick Lamar will play the villain, but we'll keep you updated as more details of the project emerge.
