It's Silly Hat Season Over at Bode
With a designer as talented as the multi-CFDA award-winning Emily Bode at the helm and historical narratives effortlessly weaved into every item it creates, it's very tempting to over-intellectualize a Bode piece when you see one. But sometimes you have to take a design for what it is: a whimsical and fun piece of design.
With its fluffy Loopy Hat, the label has created exactly that, it's a beanie that will add light-hearted experimentation to any 'fit.
Inspired by European children’s mittens from around the 1940s, the Peruvian-made wool hat has a distinctive loop knit that I can't help but compare to the texture of those spinny things at a car wash — and I promise I mean that in the best possible way.
And fortunately for fans of playful hats inspired by childrenswear, there is a second headwear style for you available from the American label.
This time inspired by early-90s wares, the label's suede bucket hat is decorated with wiggly-lined, rickrack detailing and offered in black and white — making it a (slightly) more low-key option.
This season we have seen statement hats on the menu from many brands, with the current FW23 shows offering everything from Gucci's huge hairy headwear presented in Milan to Daniel Lee's OTT furry hats for his Burberry debut in London — and this Bode design joins their ranks as a cozy and frivolous shopping option for warm heads.
Having arrived at the Highsnobiety Shop, the beanie is joined by more pieces that present Bode doing what it does best and bringing its distinctive spin to 20th-century fabrics.
Including its ever-popular quilted workwear jackets and sheer summer shirting, check out some of the latest pieces to arrive from Bode at our online store below.
