Burberry Winter Is Here Before Summer Has Even Begun
Summer has barely gotten started in the UK and already Burberry is dishing out its Winter 2023 campaign. But hey, it is Britain after all, so the difference between the winter weather and summer weather is neither here nor there.
For the campaign the luxury house has revealed a series of portraits placed firmly in the British Isles captured against the backdrop of open landscapes on the Isle of Skye and the ancient beauty of Giant’s Causeway.
Typically for winter (a Scottish one especially), looks are both protective and warm in equal measure. Archetypal Burberry trench coats are joined by field jackets and blankets, while argyle jumpers are paired with rubber boots, tights, and turtlenecks.
The campaign — which stars members of the Burberry family like Faye Wei Wei, Jake Hodder, Kesewa Aboah, and Kit Butler — features apparel showcased in Burberry’s Fall/Winter 2023 presentation, the first from new creative director Daniel Lee.
Since Lee’s arrival at Burberry, it’s been all change at the London fashion house. Along with a new brand identity (one that featured a host of new British talent), Lee also revealed a refreshed take on the label’s “Equestrian Knight” logo, a motif first used at the beginning of the 20th century.
Burberry’s winter campaign reveal comes less than two weeks after the release of its spring campaign, which again focused on outdoor essentials and the vast British landscape.
While Burberry’s seemingly off-calendar seasonal campaign releases may seem a little ill-timed, let me tell you, as a guy living in the UK: being ready for any weather at any time of the year is essential in these parts, and Lee certainly knows it.
