One of the most trusted brands in performance luxury apparel is Canada Goose. Best known for its winter outerwear the world over, keeping everyone from Alaska to Milan warm, the brand also has a solid selection of weather-ready spring outerwear.

What's new for Spring 2019? Options include everything from camo prints to colors we all need to pack some punch into our 'fits right now. Canada Goose also dropped the Nomad collection this season, its first-ever capsule collection engineered with the legendary performance of GORE-TEX fabric. The collection includes four pieces (two for men and two for women), which were inspired by the rain in Japan. Be sure to check out our story on how the inspiration shaped the collection and get acquainted with the artists involved here.

To capture the essence of Canada Goose's Spring 2019 collection, we traveled to Vancouver, Canada, to see how locals Matt Shiho and Caley Vanular, two of the city’s most well-known creatives, are rocking it.

(Opening looks: Matt wears the Wilmington Pullover and Caley wears the Nomad Hybridge Light Jacket.)

When people think of Vancouver, they generally conjure up images of the great outdoors, which seems like a limited view of the city. Describe the Vancouver people don’t know about.

Caley Vanular (CV): Vancouver is a city where people pursue passion and lifestyle instead of a paycheck. What do we have in Vancouver? Entrepreneurs, musicians, artists, actors, skateboarders, and foodies. If you like any of the above then you'll like the city.

What’s street style like in Vancouver and what makes it unique?

Matt Shiho (MS): Street style in Van is quite diverse and is heavily influenced by the many niche communities that contribute to the larger scene overall. Aside from the weather playing a major factor in how Vancouverites style themselves, it’s the abundant mix of culture that makes Vancouver unique.

Describe your personal style.

MS: My style is mostly an extension of my interests, passions, and hobbies, but my wardrobe needs to make sense and be functional. I like to be prepared for every occasion without sacrificing a sharp look.

CV: Personally, I am a fan of the classics. I thrift the majority of my clothes and mix that with some technical, long-lasting pieces.

The abundance of technical clothing brands based in the city mixed with the skateboarding scene mixed with the weather has created a kind of 'techpunk' vibe throughout the east side of the city.

What are your thoughts on the Canada Goose Spring collection? What’s your favorite piece?

MS: The Canada Goose spring collection is well rounded with a strong color palette, including some clean camo prints. The Cabri Hoody stands out to me as a favorite; the subtle pattern change detail on the chest makes a huge difference to an outer layer.

CV: I am a fan of the Salida Jacket. I like the look with some vintage jeans and sneakers.
