Editor’s Notes: Chinatown Market and PUMA's latest collaborative collection, comprising three sneaker silhouettes — two from the past, one contemporary — a sandal style, and a range of apparel, is out today. The collection takes on a DIY theme, with bold branding and removable formstrips featuring heavily.

Chinatown Market founder Mike Cherman has previously designed several sneaker and apparel collections for the German sportswear giant, and this collection is perhaps his most daring PUMA collaboration yet, incorporating the fun graphics and cheeky prints his brand has become known for.

“We wanted to take these iconic sneaker models from PUMA and embellish them with very loud interchangeable formstrips, giving the customer the ability to choose if they want to be loud or toned down on any given day,” says Cherman. “[It's] all focused on empowering the consumer to feel like he isn’t just buying one product, but can have a multitude of different ways to remix their sneakers.

“PUMA has allowed Chinatown Market to really flourish creatively and flex our ideas to the highest extent, giving us the platform to really push PUMA into a unique space within the sportswear and fashion market.”

A pre-launch in limited quantities went down two weeks ago via the Chinatown Market site. Today is the global launch. The Ralph Sampson is available through Chinatown Market and PUMA, while the other styles are available exclusively through Chinatown Market.
