Christian Alexander made his official debut with the Summer '17 EP this past April, but his introverted lo-fi tunes have already reached an attentive audience far beyond his home of North England. Today, we're premiering the music video for his gloomy track "I Wanna Go Home" and no doubt that it will have you feeling some type of way.

In terms of the structure, there's not much to the sorrowful tune—Alexander sings "I've been so beat down and burnt out/ I seem so worn out and stressed now/ Maybe I’m tired of rushing/ I blew you off like it’s nothing/ I miss you so much/ I wanna go home." As he repeats the refrain, Alexander's auto-tuned vocals are supported by a piano which is accompanied by an arrangement of strings. In an email to Highsnobiety, he told us more about the origins of the ballad and how Mowgly Lee channeled his vision into the cinematic visual.

"I wrote the song when I was sad and missing home, there wasn’t really much else on my mind," he said. "I was alone and some stuff was going on, so I wrote a song to express that. I wanted the video to match the feeling of the song, really simple, straight to the point, which I feel we did. I was into these shaky, rough looking shots at the time, I wanted to create a little world where you’re immersed completely."

Watch Alexander attempt to find his way home in the mesmerizingly melancholic video above, and maybe call the person you've been missing when you're finished.
