Coachtopia Has Sold Out Not Once, But Twice
It’s official. Coachtopia has joined the ranks of virality along with the Coach Tabby Bag.
In case you are one of the few who hasn’t heard yet, Coachtopia, a sub-brand focused on a circular craft, launched earlier this week. Within 48 hours, the first drop was already sold out on coach.com. This afternoon, the heritage brand went live with its second drop … and that sold out as well.
The collection features products that flex all of the qualities we know and love from Coach – top-notch craftsmanship, one-of-a-kind designs, and iconic construction. However, in today’s fashion industry, two sold-out moments within the same week require a bit more context.
Coachtopia focuses on circularity, meaning that each piece is made with the mindset to expand its life span further. To do this, Coachtopia begins by working with preexisting goods to avoid using any virgin materials – which is pretty noble considering that over 85% of materials produced in the fashion industry end up incinerated or as waste in landfill.
During the production stage, Coachtopia considers the multi-functional use of products and sustainable materials at the forefront of its design. 3 in 1 wear bags are constructed with up-crafted leather (a possibility due to Coach’s 80+ years of experience), 70% recycled resin is used for its hardware pieces, and ready-to-wear that is crafted in 95%+ recycled cotton or repurposed denim deadstock.
Finally, when your Coachtopia good is inevitably ready for its next phase in life, Coach will take your bag, regardless of age or condition, for exchange, credit, or future upcycling usage. This means your bag will never go to waste, or that it will always live on.
As if Coachtopia’s revolutionary circular stance isn't enough to get you hooked, its newly-appointed Beta Community surely will be.
Coach continues to keep the future close with a network of GenZers who feed their perspectives and ideas into Coachtopia products, messages, and concepts as they are developed. Key players include fashion upcycler Tyler McGivillary, actor Lola Tung, and climate activist Aditi Mayer. These individuals, amongst a handful of more sustainably-driven creators, are responsible for directing collaborative drops, handing out spots for The CFDA x Coach Dream It Real Circular Design scholarship, and monitoring that Coachtopia remains authentic with environmental expectations and claims.
Want to get your hands on a piece from this collection? You aren't alone. Selfridges.com still has select styles available, and if you’re looking for an out-of-stock piece, Coach will be periodically re-releasing pieces from Coachtopia in future drops on coach.com.
