Crocs Made the Boots Without the Price Tag
Balenciaga’s collaboration with Crocs made some serious noise. We wouldn’t have expected anything else, really. The high-heel Crocs were arguably the most astounding pair, followed up by the more wearable Crocs Boots. But, while the Balenciaga Crocs Boots were both eye-catching and utilitarian, the luxury of sliding your foot into one would cost $895.
Luckily, for anybody who has had their eyes and heart trained on the Balenciaga Crocs Boots since they dropped in 2018, Crocs just dropped a similar version for less than a tenth of the price.
As opposed to the luxury version, the Crocs Crush Boots cut off just above the ankle. Aside from that, the design runs a very similar path. A chunky sole unit makes the boot more viable for everyday use and tricky terrains, as well as adding a visual boost to the silhouette.
The drainage holes around the toe and across the top of the shoe, which usually would leave space for Jibbitz have been blocked to ensure the Croslite boots are fully watertight. With that said, the collar of the Crush Boot does feature perforated detailing, but this is well out of the splash zone.
The Crocs Crush Boots offer the kind of in-your-face ugliness that we’ve come to love about Crocs. The clog shape has had a major resurgence over recent seasons, and Crocs has clearly got its foot on the pedal to make the most of its newfound popularity.
